Thoughts on Stern Transfer. Is it possible from mid level school and is it worth it?
Thinking about transferring to Stern after my sophomore year. I am at a mid level school, 65% acceptance rate and 50% into B school.
1 - Is it possible from mid level school and what do you need GPA wise and other info?
2 - Is it worth it?
Probably need stellar stats, thought stern took very few external transfers. You probably have better chances if you apply for econ
Yeah looking to apply stern and then CAS Econ as my second option
Edited.
Firstly, what school do you go to?
Below
I really don't know what that means. Maybe others will be able to, but I personally can't help much if I don't know what school you go to. Tell you what, do what other people do on this forum. List your school with multiple other schools and just say you go to one of them. For example, if I went to Yale, but didn't want to say it, I might say "I go to one of Harvard/Yale/Princeton".
Lmao Stern isn't a good school dude
Why do you say that and where would you suggest transferring too? I would like to be in Nyc
Currently at Stern. It’s a obviously a good school the guy above is just being a weirdo. My only regret is not looking more into the culture here and not being on an “actual” campus. If you’re looking at stern, I’m assuming you’re competitive enough for other school of similar tiers. Apply to Stern but also look at Cornell (transfer friendly?), UVA, Georgetown and schools with a better environment. Going to a school specifically for banking seems like a waste when you can get the same opportunities at a similar caliber school.
Appreciate the insight. I would think Cornell is extremely difficult to transfer into.. harder than stern? If not, my mistake. I am not big into the college campus party scene, rather want to go to college to get my degree and move on. I also would like to be in the city, but I will definitely look into other options as well. Thank you!
I feel you. It seems like you know what you want out of your college experience and Stern seems like it's up your alley so go for it. Like others mentioned, Stern is extremely tough to transfer into so make sure you got the grades, ECs, and a great story! Also, idk if the transfer application has this option but do put CAS as a second option. It might be easier breaking into the top BBs and EBs from Stern, but there are many students at the midtier BBs, MMs, and balance sheet banks from CAS.
Some targets that are more transfer-friendly include Michigan, UVA, Cornell, UNC, Vanderbilt
Sweet thanks.
What makes Cornell more transfer friendly than Stern?
Transferring to Stern would be 100% worth it for you, but I’ve heard they have a very low transfer acceptance rate. I’d recommend you also look at more transfer-friendly option, like Cornell, NYU CAS, Michigan
