Transferring after 2nd year: worth it?

Hi,

I'm currently a rising soph at a non-target. I applied for fall transfers this past year but only applied to 7 programs that were all far reaches, and was eventually rejected by all. I have just finished a summer internship at a BB in PWM and was able to network with a good amount of analysts in the investment bank, but ideally would want to apply to more than just one firm. Through my internship, I've learned a lot more about networking and the process of breaking in which has opened my eyes to just how few alumni from my school actually work in high finance jobs. Being at a school with a small number of kids interested in finance careers I've been able to obtain two leadership positions in finance-related clubs. As of now, I believe I might spend the fall interning for the Treasury in hopes of boosting my resume further. Majoring/minoring in math/computer science/econ/finance, currently have a 3.7 GPA, after this fall max: 3.81.

Knowing that SA recruiting for my Junior might be wrapped up by the time I transfer for Fall 2023, would it still be worth it to apply again (to more schools) to transfer? I am also considering applying for Spring 2023 but few schools offer it and the rates are much lower so it could just be waste of time.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Transferring schools is a huge pain in the ass, especially after your 2nd year. Unless you have no friends at your current school you should not transfer.

As you mentioned, most recruiting will be wrapped up/in process by the time you start, you won’t have a friend group, you’ll be behind in classes/credits, you won’t be part of any clubs/organizations, etc.
