Transferring to a Semi

My freshman year just finished, and I go to a pretty mediocre non-target private school. I want to transfer out my sophomore spring semester, but I am kinda worried about my stats. I have a 3.8 GPA and a 1370 SAT, I took a few practice tests and am consistently scoring around 1450-1520, but don't know how feasible retaking the SAT is given corona. Im just curious what are my chances of transferring into a semi-target are, and if I should even bother trying to transfer at this point. Thanks for any help.

This is so variable. Semi-targets can vary drastically in acceptance stats / overall prestige. Just look up transfer stats for the schools you're thinking of and it will answer your questions for you. Keep in mind that many public schools take 99% in-state community college kids and barely look out-of-state (UMich, any UC, UTexas Austin). Although, UVA and UNC are more accepting of out-of-staters so try them.

It also depends on how reputable your current school is. Non-target doesn't neccesarily mean your current school is shit. Get your GPA up as high as you can before you apply.

Also, most importantly, with how early recruiting happens these days, you won't gain any recruiting benefits unless you push back your graduation a year/semester.

Thanks for the help, I'll definitely look into those options. Yeah my school isn't complete shit, its not great, but my average class SAT was around a 1350. As far as not benefiting from recruiting, that was a main concern for me so I looked for schools that I can transfer during my sophomore spring semester like UVA and BC. The main issue I'm seeing is that online its hard to gauge at how feasible transferring really is, some posts make it sound like a cakewalk, and others make it sound like I have no chance. I'm more concerned about my SAT, I know I can definitely bring it up, but am not sure if its worth it or possible to take it because of corona.
