UMICH ECON vs BC CSM for IBD

What is better for IBD recruiting? University of Michigan LSA Econ, or Boston College Carrol School of MGMT? specifically for elite boutiques, top MMs, and BBs?

Can students accepted for transfer into LSA (3rd year, probably considered 2nd at UMICH) still get into Ross? And what are the chances...?

I have SA experience at a MM firm in the ibd tech group and my goal is to get into BBs as an SA summer 2013...

(also, in the off chance I happen to get accepted into Claremont Mckenna College, how does CMC fit into all of this) one more thing, do banks care if you got into these target/ semitarget schools through transfer?

You'll have another 3 years of Ross after you get accepted if you get accepted, I wouldn't do it... You won't have the same resources as the Ross or CoE kids (unless you do computer science in LSA, then you get the same resources as CoE), but the recruiters will be there... don't really know how the other schools are targeted

You're forgetting that both Harvard and MIT are right around the corner of BC. Those kids will easily take whatever job you want. I say Michigan. Chicago banks love Michigan students.

Not too interested in Chicago and New York.... and I am fully aware that 90% of all the banks are in the east.

I want to work on the west coast (LA and SF), am I still competitive if I decide to attend UMICH econ? I'm kind of leaning towards UMICH right now because I'm reading it has a better full college experience.

In that case, Michigan.

umich econ recruiting sucks because you can't recruit on campus for any of the jobs ross kids can. and banks pretty much only go to ross.

I've heard that recruiting is going more towards LSA though too... just network, the recruiters are already coming for Ross... getting in from LSA is probably not nearly as easy as from Ross, but it's still probably easier than from BC. Isn't there somebody on this site that got in from Econ LSA?

Oh yeah, banks and MBB also go to the College of Engineering... moreso for trading (with banks obviously), but whatever

i'm in econ lsa. i got sa offers purely out of networking and i'm still trying to network for ft. ross career services won't help you at all

Yeah but my point is that recruiters are still coming to the campus, even if not specifically for LSA. I really wish they would do something about the career center for LSA though even though I don't plan on using it (hopefully). I'd much rather go to school for econ or almost anything else than undergrad business... kinda sad that physics and math majors are having a harder time than people focusing on accounting or finance.

Do you know if minoring in an engineering field will allow you to use the same resources as the CoE?

thanks for the insight scott. i read somewhere that LSA students can pay a premium to have access to the Ross career center, is this true?

Not that I know of... I've only been here for a couple of months, but I've talked to a good amount of people about this type of stuff and I've never heard it
