Undergraduate: Ross or Stern
I have been admitted into both Ross and Stern, but I am not sure which one to commit to. I want to break into PE, preferably right out of undergrad, and am aware that Ross places 8-10 at Blackstone every year, but was wondering what Stern offered that Ross does not? Which is better for a kid looking to go into finance in my position? Are people really aware of how good Ross is?
Ross 100%. Your college experience at NYU will suck. Great for grad school though, but being in NYC for undergrad must be the worst experience ever. Michigan is a great school, you'll get good ops for sure.
Both are ranked neck and neck. The difference is that Michigan has a national alumni network while NYU's is mostly in the NYC area.

Breaking into PE right out of undergrad? Dude, it doesn't work that way. More like 1-3 years in IB--->transition to PE.
And if you're willing to go through that, I would say Stern will be the best option in this case. They have lots of alumni in banking and PE and they consistently place well in IB. After a couple of years of IB analyst stint, you can transition to PE.
This is pretty simple: Both schools have great academics and both are targets. If you want to spend some time having access to parties, social life and sports- choose Michigan. If none of that matters to you and you prefer the city life, go NYU.
Both are fine. Neither really positions you to do PE right away. Transfer to Wharton or Harvard if you think you’re actually good enough for that.
