UVA, Georgetown, BC

Which out of these has the best overall name/placement rate for IB/Consulting.

I think I would get into UVA ED so heavily considering, however what happens if you don’t get into Mcintire.

Can you still go into IB by doing financial economics at UVA?

Does money not matter here? Like as in in-state vs out of state consideration. A few thought below:

UVA is a great school and I’ve heard from friends who went there that if you have a good GPA early on you should be able to land the business school. If you don’t I would say your chances of making top IB go down a lot. UVA has a great program, they send tons of kids to Wall Street/consulting and if you’re in-state the tuition is relatively cheap. It is a huge school though and they definitely part hard/give off state school vibes.

Pretty sure Georgetown also has good placements, and BC is target/semi-target at some BBs (e.g. my group/bank has a BC pipeline).

These are all pretty different schools in terms of location - Cville is big but in the middle of nowhere, Georgetown is DC, and BC is in Boston area so very different geographically/what the cities are like. I think the demographics will be similar at all - mostly upper-middle class white kids.

Ulitmately it’s more up to you to land a good role, so the school will only play so much of a factor. These are all great schools and very different locations, so I would suggest picking the one you think you would enjoy going to the most.

assuming cost isn’t an issue (i’m out of state) so cost wouldnt be much different at either, doesnt uva have slightly more prestige than BC. Would mcintire be significantly better than BC?

I'd echo the An 1 above. I would make your decision based on factors besides IB recruiting clout. Cost, surrounding area, school size, academic vibe, and generally just how you want to spend 4 years in college (also where you even end up getting in) should color your decision. You can successfully recruit for IB from any of these schools easily if you're smart enough - regardless of EB or BB

I go to BC and am a senior. The network is extensive and there is alumni at almost any financial institution (BB, MM, EBs) and are willing to help out other alum. Cost: $$$$$$$$$$

Hey, super interested in BC! Both fortunately and unfortunately BC is the most economical decision, but heavily leaning toward it because it seems like everything I want in a school (only hesitation is the recruiting thing, but every alum seems pretty happy and content so I’m not too worried, and I’m not hungry for the top jobs or whatever) . Did you have fun there? I can never get a straight answer of whether BC is a fun school. Some people say it’s super rigid or whatever, others say it’s alcoholic filled. Do you have any regrets? Thanks!
