Vanderbilt MSF Interview
Hey guys,
I have a formal campus visit and interview scheduled for the Vanderbilt MSF program next week. I was wondering whether anyone had any tips on the types of questions asked during the interview? I've done quite a bit of research and have a good understanding of the general questions (Why an MSF, Why Vanderbilt, Short/Long term goals, Strengths/Weaknesses) but was wondering whether anyone has anything else to add?
Also, any idea whether a large number of applicants are invited to interview or if it's very select? And also the general percentage of interviewees who end up getting accepted?
Looking for any help really, but of course TNA's input would be priceless.
Thanks
Behavioral. Know why you want an MSF. Be able to tie your UG, work experience and goals all together with the degree. It is good you've researched the programs so you'll be able to talk about "why vanderbilt" in particular. Getting an interview is good as not everyone gets one. Coming on campus is also very good. Nashville is a really cool city and I think you will like it. I visited campus about 2-3 years ago and loved it.
Enjoy and good luck.
Thanks!
Also, I've applied to Michigan State (accepted) and waiting to hear back from Ohio State, USC, and Duke (MMS). My UG major is Finance from a semi target Midwest school and I would ideally like to work in either the Midwest, Northeast, or even down South. I know USC seems odd as it is out West but the brand name and network of USC is so vast that I believe it'd be beneficial wherever I plan to work. Taking this into account, Vandy, Duke, and USC are my top 3 choices, and then MSU and OSU are solid back ups.
If I do only get accepted into MSU and OSU, which would you recommend is better in terms of network and placement in the regions mentioned? I've looked into all of the programs and these two I find to be quite similar, though tuition for MSU is 20K less. The two things that may go into OSU's favor are that their placement is a bit more well detailed on their website and the OSU brand name may be a bit more well known, though MSU is a great brand as well.
Once again, advice and tips would be much appreciated!
I'd hit up George and ask for more cash. OSU is the better program. It's been around longer, has a history of placements, Columbus is a cool little city and you have some smaller places to intern at.
With OSU , I'd target Chicago and you'd do pretty well considering your UG.
Awesome, thanks!
