Vandy MSF vs UT MSF

Hey monkeys,
So, I'm facing a tough decision on which MSF program to go for. I'm in at UT with little $$$ and waiting to hear from Vandy for a decision but fairly confident that I will get in. I'll only hear back from them next week and won't have much time to make the decision since UT deposit is due around the same time. Hence posting in advance.

To provide some perspective, I'm an international student with a Bachelors in Technology and a decent GPA. Have a 6 month IB internship under my belt working at a top national bank and will be giving my CFA L2 this June. Post the MSF, I'm looking to break into IB, ideally working on the East coast(NY/Chicago) but would be happy to work at any decent location. Open to other career options besides IB but do want to work in the US after graduating. Also, quality of education is a big factor for me going into the program but I guess it'll mostly be the same at both the schools(Don't know too much about this).

Just wanted to know what do you guys think is the better choice given my background and priorities?
Would appreciate any comments you guys might have.

Vanderbilt has been around longer and has more of an established feel. That being said, UT Austin is a top university and a target for Houston/Dallas. Energy is taking a hit right now, but it is still a long term, growing industry. You can't go wrong with either, just decide if you are a Texas guy or an East Cost guy. Both have very distinct cultures and work environments.

Thanks for your input! I'm a tad bit concerned about the quality of education at Vandy. This might be wrong but I've heard that some classes are good, some not so much whereas at UT professors are top notch and very approachable.

Can anyone provide their insights on this?

You're going to get that variation anywhere. Same is true at WUSTL and that's a school known for its faculty. Vandy's consistent placement record is simply too strong and it has a very wide reach. The only downside for Vandy is that its business school seems to be in a down trend, in general.

Yeah, no doubt that the placements are stellar. I couldn't find a relevant breakup anywhere but do you know roughly what %age of internationals are able to break into banking and what kinds of positions do they end up in?

IMO, both schools are on par. I think UTA probably has a slightly higher "brand" when vandy has a longer track record. The decision should be made based on where you see yourself working.

I think vandy has generally better placements, but Vanderbilt also has higher admission standards. Villanova has a more holistic approach to admissions. The people that are successful at Vanderbilt would be successful at any of the main msf programs.

And starting salary is more of a function that most Nova grads work in nyc and Vandy has a split with people working down south. You'd have to cost of living adjust stuff to get a real parity.

Both programs have pros and cons and students routinely pick one or the other each year.

Guys, On a side note, how do you think nashville compares with austin as a city for a grad student? Which one is the cheaper of the two? @"Esuric" @"TNA"
