Villanova MSF tuition-free or Vandy MSF with a bit of scholarship?

Disclaimer - I went to nova.
IMO, vandy has better placements and is definitely worth $5k in the grand scheme of things. That being said, Villanova will get you to NYC banking and the fellowship is a really great honor as well (I had one myself).
Vandy still gives you a better shot at banking, all things considered. I'd probably lean towards the Commodores.
SB'd. You learned to exercise fair disclosure.
Thanks man. I hear you on leaning toward Vandy, but from a cost/benefit POV would I be dumb to take out $50K in loans for Vandy (+ opportunity cost) versus $0 loans for Nova plus a stipend? Is the Vandy difference worth that much?
techjobsyankee See this? rofl.
Oh, I didn't realize it was 50k vs 0.
I absolutely love Vanderbilt and Blake crushes it over there. The campus is great and Nashville is a blast. You won't go wrong with Vandy.
With that said, Nova is great and being able to intern or network in philly and get to effectively the entire east coast within a couple hours, cheaply, is huge.
If you are good at networking and can execute on interviews, you'll be fine at nova as well. The program has MM IBD OCR and tons of alumni on the street. It's a very well respected school.
If you go, shoot me a PM and I'll happily help you out with introductions, etc.
Nova = 30k...Owen = 43k. Worth it? (Originally Posted: 02/23/2011)
Hi guys, Need some advice. I don't have the placement figures but I guess the two mentioned colleges would be on similar levels. Despite the similarity in placements there is a difference of nearly 13k in the fees(despite owen being a nine months course). I will be choosing between these two colleges for my application so any advice will be great.
I think both programs are worth it. Nova if you want to work in NY or Philly.
nova. tennessee sucks
Nova
Lol
Both programs are great. Vandy has more MBA recruiting since it is a FT program. You take some MSF classes with MBAs also. Placement is strong down south, but NYC is not impossible.
Villanova is almost all Philly/NYC. Not too much MBA recruiting, but lots of networking opportunities. Program is pure cohort. All MSF only classes and everyone takes same classes.
Owen. More fun (do you want to go to school in suburbia). Placement is good too--goldman, barclays, citi, etc.
I would go by where you want to live after school. For me, Nashville is 1000x better than anything the state of Pennsylvania has to offer.
Yeah, choose the school that is located where you want to end up. If you don't like Philly or NYC, don't come to Nova.
never heard of owen college and ivy league/duke/stanford or bust
I know multiple people who went to each of these programs. I even worked with some of them when I was in IB. I would choose Vandy by a mile if placements is your biggest concern.
Is this in NYC?
just go to Villanova and be happy. It's what you want. Plus you and TNA have a cultural similarity.
Such a thirsty bro.
