West Point Cadet deciding on major

I am currently a West Point cadet going through my plebe (freshmen) year and I am deciding between either systems engineering or engineering management as my major. I like the engineering modeling in systems engineering and I like the business and basic engineering mix of engineering management. However, engineering management seems like a pretty weak major because the curriculum so broad and it lacks specialty. And systems engineering has a heavier course load and I'm worried about how it could affect my GPA. I want to know which major would help me towards applying to a M7 Business School and a career after my service in the Army?

You're eight years out from transition and possibly a decade out from b-school. A strong GPA is going to make your life easier all around (no matter what you do) and unsurprisingly it's likely that you'll achieve that by choosing a major you enjoy. More importantly, focus on developing yourself as the best leader you can become - you don't know what type of conflict we may be involved in four years from now when it's your time to head to a unit. Nothing wrong with planning ahead, but make sure you're still set on doing what you've just started out to do.
