Wharton Team Based Discussion - Mock Interview Anyone?

Is anyone here doing Wharton MBA apps this year? Let's see if we can get a few members together and maybe we can try to simulate the group interview experience on Google Hangouts. What do y'all say?

I interviewed and was accepted round 1. Not sure what value a mock interview would bring you to be honest. Be prepared for everyone in your group to be weirdly nice to everyone, and for the discussion to go all over the place. In my opinion as long as you contribute positively and aren't an a$$ you will do fine. The members in my group that didn't get in were the ones I believe that talked the most and were the most rehearsed. I focused on listening and building on others ideas. Good luck!

During the TBD the only formal piece is at the beginning when you give your 60 second pitch. The rest of the time it is up to your group to structure the conversation. The second year students that observe just sit quietly in the back.

After the TBD you do a quick 15 minute one on one with one of the observers. I was asked how I think my group did, if that was how I typically work in groups, and why I want to go to Wharton. After that I asked him a few questions and then it was over.

Overall it is definitely a unique experience as far as b-school interviews go. I think the most effective way to prepare is to have your pitch ready, and then to be prepared to flow with the conversation. Don't focus on being the most talkative or the leader. Just focus on adding value to the team and you will do fine.

I'm interviewing on March 5 but likely won't begin preparing, in earnest, until after my Booth interview on 2/21. I have two good ideas I'd like to run with and just need to do some additional research and structure a course.

I was really intimidated by the TBD concept but the more I read about it, the more excited I am. I excel in a group of peers and am REALLY good at pretending I like everyone in a group, provided it's only for a short period of time.

Question for those who have experienced it already: from the above comment, it sounds like there are multiple observers in the room. Is is the case that there's an observer for each applicant? Or is it more like two observers for, say, five applicants? Can't help but wonder if I'm gonna feel like I'm a zoo animal being observed by scientists...

Thanks so much for the advice, everyone. Does anyone know if there is any difference between the on campus and off campus ones? I am doing mine in Singapore
