Hi, I ve got 2+ year experience in a BB. Now I ve got chance to join either IFC PE (part of world bank) or RW BairdIBD. Which one would help my profile more for applying top notch (like top 5) MBA? thanks
really doesn't matter. MBA program's are interested in diversity. You've already ticked the strong career experience box but if the program has a bunch of people with your background, it won't distinguish you.
If this is the case, would IFC help more? As it adds in PE and kind-of non profit experience?
to add up: Baird has a program to sponsor 3rd year analyst or 1st year Associate for MBA. Would this help? I am not sure if having enough financial resources (company sponsor) would help applying...
I'm confused... you're at a BB but you could move to Baird for banking? Why would you do that, unless it's a lifestyle thing... or you're in MO/BO at the BB... but I wouldn't assume that you are since you also got IFC PE...
Anyway, I'd go with IFC. Looks like a pretty interesting exp. Would you get exposure to the emerging markets in your role there?
Thanks Kanon. I was in IBD at the BB. I leave the BB as 1) my BB is still in deep shit and 2) I want to get Emerging market experience. Both are emerging market focus roles. Baird is M&A. IFC is PE investment and portfolio companies management
Oh I see, that explains it. Tough call if that's also your reason, but I would still go for the IFC if MBA is in your sights. It make for a much more interesting story. And you've already got banking exp, so if you do PE in emerging markets, it expands your work experience story a bit more.
You should try asking Alex on the MBAApply board for his opinion.
