Which Undegraduate School Places Really well for EB and Has a good Social Life?

With regard to the academics, social life, location, reputation, networking opportunities, etc, which school provides the best undergrad business experience for someone that wants to break into Investment banking (Particulary EB)
My ultimate goal is to have a ton of fun, never be bored, put in hard work, and to eventually come out of school without feeling as if getting a job is harder for me due to lack of name recognition and strength alumni network wise.

I have relatively strong stats so I’m open to any school but don’t want a completely competitive and pressure filled experience.

The school social scene itself doesn't matter that much if the city/area it is has a nice social life and surrounding colleges nearby have a good social scene (Ex: Columbia - SUNY and NYC Nearby)

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some undergraduate schools that balance strong placement into elite boutiques (EBs) with a good social life, while also considering academics, location, reputation, and networking opportunities:

  1. University of Virginia (UVA)

    • Placement: UVA places well into EBs like Evercore, PJT, and Centerview, with a strong pipeline to NYC offices due to its proximity.
    • Social Life: Greek life is prominent, and there are frat-specific pipelines to banks. The campus social scene is vibrant, and the surrounding area offers a great college-town vibe.
    • Networking: Strong alumni network and club culture that supports IB recruiting.
  2. University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley)

    • Placement: Berkeley is a target for West Coast banks and a semi-target for East Coast banks. It has a growing presence in EBs, especially in tech-focused groups.
    • Social Life: While the social life on campus can be hit or miss, the Bay Area offers plenty of opportunities for fun, and the city of San Francisco is nearby.
    • Networking: Clubs like the Berkeley Finance Club and Undergraduate Finance Association provide strong alumni connections and training.
  3. Indiana University (IU) - Kelley School of Business

    • Placement: Kelley sends a significant number of students to BB, EB, and MM banks annually (70+). The Investment Banking Network (IBN) is a key resource for top placements.
    • Social Life: Known for a fun and lively campus atmosphere with a strong party scene.
    • Networking: Kelley’s alumni network is expansive and supportive, especially for IB roles.
  4. University of Michigan (Ross School of Business)

    • Placement: Ross is a top-tier business school with strong placement into EBs and BBs.
    • Social Life: Ann Arbor is a vibrant college town with a great social scene, and the university has a strong sports culture.
    • Networking: Ross alumni are well-represented across top banks, and the school’s reputation is highly regarded.
  5. University of Texas at Austin (McCombs School of Business)

    • Placement: McCombs has a solid track record of placing students into IB, including EBs.
    • Social Life: Austin is a lively city with a great music and nightlife scene, making it a fun place to live and study.
    • Networking: Strong alumni network and dedicated resources for IB recruiting.
  6. University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC - Kenan-Flagler)

    • Placement: UNC places well into IB, including EBs, especially for East Coast offices.
    • Social Life: Chapel Hill has a classic college-town vibe with a strong social scene, and nearby schools like Duke add to the mix.
    • Networking: Alumni are supportive, and the school has a strong reputation in finance.

If you’re looking for a balance of strong academics, excellent placement into EBs, and a fun social life, schools like UVA, Michigan, and Berkeley stand out. Each offers a unique mix of opportunities, so your choice may depend on your preference for location and campus culture.

For EB placement, Georgetown, UVA and Duke probably your best bets.

thanks so much how about like columbia or uchiacgo or cornell(syraucse) thoughts on them?

If you can get a leadership position in a club, like DIPP, Dartmouth is also great.
