Why isn’t Bentley University Target?
Let me preface by saying I know very few high finance firms recruit on campus, and the school has a pretty high acceptance rate.
My question is more why is this the case?
The faculty and facilities are amazing, especially the trading lab. Students in BIG (the student ran fund) and the investment banking program are very successful. Career services department is top rated in the country, and it’s a total business school.
Might be a stupid question, but I genuinely don’t really understand why the school isn’t on the radar of investment banks, as well as why the school isn’t ranked higher overall
Would love to hear some opinions
Because there are many higher ranked business schools that already produced senior level professionals who would push for their alma. Also, do you really think Bentley has a better business program than Minnesota, Penn State, Arizona State, etc. of the world? I think the business education can only be good as a certain level that it's not that significant. Furthermore, I doubt Bentley has a better program compared to schools with more established IB program like Kelley and UT Austin. Convince me why, for example like Moelis who love those state school hardos, should target Bentley that has exponentially less senior bankers and already have many schools to choose from that have already produced a high quality talent.
What you are saying is you just started a sandwich shop that in your opinion tastes better than Subway, but in reality most people would eat at Subway because they are fine with the flavor and don't really want to eating at your restaurant that just started selling sandwiches. Also, sandwich is a sandwich, how better can a new sandwich shop be?
Yea that makes a lot of sense. I was definitely thinking about Bentley individually, when I should be thinking about if Bentley has anything that directly makes them stand out against other schools. Appreciate the input
Never heard about the school…..
Why would anyone choose somewhere relatively unknown like Bentley, when they can just tap into their typical pipeline of Ivies, Stanford, Duke, Chicago, top state schools, etc.
You don't get fired for hiring McKinsey.
It's a good school just like many other non-targets. The reality is there are only so many roles in high finance and it makes more sense to prioritize the better schools.
bentley is a car, dude
Never heard of them nor interviewed a kid from there. Curious to learn more.
