Why Study MSc Finance?

Hello everyone,

as the title indicates - I am not sure why I should study master's in finance.

Before I dive in with my thought process here is my short background: final year business management student with a major in finance with GPA around 3.7 at a top-tier uni in the UK; briefly worked in a HF and did a classic IB SA stint.

So, as I said, I am not sure whether I should do MSc in Finance at top-tier school: considering applying to LSE, Imperial, MIT.

Reasons why I should apply:

Top schools provide great research opportunities which are very interesting to me;

New networking opportunities;

Learning new modules and etc;

Better (and maybe more diverse?) job prospects after having an MSc degree I guess?;

Another year of having to experience student life;

???

Reasons why I should not apply:

Very expensive (parents are not able to cover the costs, so I should take out the loan)

I am not sure how practical it is given that most skills (or knowledge) are learned during the work itself

Are there any institutions that prefer ppl with such degrees? ( I am pretty sure that such a degree is not really relevant going into an analyst position at IB or but I am not sure about others e.g. HFs or PE firms and etc.)

???

Feeling a little bit lost right now as I really want to study more but I am not sure whether it is worth it.

Would love to hear what you think guys, any insight would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
