Work study with Haas B-School or regular job? Does it help with future IB positions?
Hi, I'm not particularly sure about the correct forum to post this in so I'm going to go with B-School Barrage.
I'm a student who will be entering UC Berkeley this coming fall semester and I will definitely need to have some sort of employment to avoid student loans, and I could use some information from you knowledgeable folks.
My question is essentially whether I should find a regular job(Not that it matters but it will likely be either a bartending or serving type of gig as I've had in the past) or should I pursue a work study with our business school?
Haas is offering an administrative assistant position and at a first glance I assumed it would be great to have that on my resume until I've heard some people say it will likely make no effect.
The only reason this is even an issue is due to the fact that work study will pay roughly 40% of what a regular job would, but if it will provide any assistance in the future I believe that will outweigh the current pay difference.
Your thoughts chaps?
Won't make a difference for finance recruiting - unless you think you can use the position to meet/become friendly with b-school professors etc who can put you in touch with industry contacts they may have. If so, work study is a no-brainer.
