Worth (and possible?) to do MBA after 2.5 yrs experience?
Hi all,
working at one MBB in Europe. Been interested in MBA (M7) for a while, and my plan was to apply now in January (round 2) for some schools (Wharton is my first pick)
- My experience in fall will be 2.5yrs in consulting - good trajectory, but with very little leadership experience.
- 740 GMAT (could perhaps try to push it 10-20 more during xmas break if that's a deal breaker)
- My undergrad and master's grades are good, but from a small European school (with few/no M7 alumni)
- I have gotten OK recommendations
- I am slightly older (28) due to both masters degree and gap years.
1) What are my chances of even getting in? I think I have seen better CVs than mine getting denied
2) If I get in - what type of job can I expect afterwards (if I want to stay in US)? I understand PE&HF is close to impossible. What about a good tech firm, or LDP? What about IB?
Appreciate all input (a lot)!
how much older ?
28!
Why spend 200k on an MBA, when you could earn +300k working right now? My understanding is that MBA is worth less than it once was, and if you need it later you can get it paid for (potentially).
