Worth switching to consulting?
So I’m a first year mba associate and while I don’t mind the job so far, I know that I don’t want my MDs job/life. If I’m going to end up exiting to a corporate job anyway, aren’t I better off in consulting where my opportunities won’t be as limited to corp dev? Id love to work at a hedge fund but that seems like a pipe dream. I guess I’m having a hard time seeing the pros of staying in ib as someone who doesn’t want to become career banker.
Associate 1 in IB - Cov, bummer your thread hasn't had a response yet. Maybe one of these threads could point you in the right direction:

If those topics were completely useless, don't blame me, blame my programmers...
Have you considered staying the course but exiting on the same path you would if you went into consulting? Current strategy consultant here, and I think banking placements into F500 would be as strong or better than that of consulting (you'd be qualified for corp dev or virtually anything else).
I know I’d be qualified for corp dev but I have more interest in corp Strat to get to a role with p&l. I also wonder about consulting because id at least have my weekends and would not be working past midnight on a daily basis.
what are your hours like?
