Would you choose a lower ranked school (SMU Cox) over Vandy if they gave you 20 k in scholarship?

and the vandy masters costed 50k and SMU costed 30k? How are these two programs? Would i have any chance of landing good corp fin roles in the US after SMU?

Then take out loans bro. If you want a career in high finance, then your career prospects can’t survive a masters at SMU.

In an effort to save some money now (which I’m not saying is insignificant), don’t fuck up your earnings potential for the rest of your life. SMU grads at the masters level just don’t place well.

As an SMU alum would probably go with Vandy for masters. My personal opinion when I was there was that the post-grad programs weren’t very good. Undergrad is a different story and SMU does well in Houston for banking but I don’t think the post-grad programs (either MSF or MBA) were any good. I can’t fully answer your question though because I don’t know what jobs people are taking after getting a masters from either school. To be honest, do you really need a MSF to go work in Corp finance? $50K is a big price tag to go work in FP&A. I don’t know a ton about these programs but feels like kind of a waste, and the few people from school that I know that did do them were just trying to delay graduation for a year

Graduating Vandy MSF on Sunday so I'm biased but I was accepted into both of these schools and (obviously) chose Vanderbilt because I was able to talk to alums of the program and see their placement. If you want IB, PE, VC or Consulting, I'd choose Vandy hands down. The recruiting here is top notch and we have MSF alums all over the street. The difference in recruiting and outcomes is definitely worth the 20K.
