Would you rather transfer to a target or go to a MIT/Princeton MSF Program?
Curious to hear what you guys think. Speaking objectively, I think MSF programs have been somewhat devalued on this forum due to how new most programs are. MSF can be a cheaper route and seems as though that they are much more involved with getting someone their targeted job. Also appears that their program instruction and courses are much more applicable to the IBD/AM/quant/etc. roles people get.
with all else equal, I would absolutely transfer to target. You can feel free to add MSF on top of those if you want, and having a target background cannot hurt your prospects if you can handle the courseloads
From hearing from someone who went to a top MSF from a non-target ug I think there is something you're leaving out. The guy I spoke to had said that going the MSF route saved him over 40k (50-80k MSF vs 120k+ for 2 years at a target). He said he was willing to gamble on himself that if he didn't get into IB from his non-target and save a lot of money, that he could get in by the MSF route and it payed off. He's in a pretty good healthcare BB IBD group.
MSF courses are arguably more difficult but that's a different topic for another day.
