WSP: normalized financials relating European companies

Hi guys, I am currently working on the course "Trading Comps" in WSP. In one of the video's he talks about adjusting from gaap to non-gaap, so that the calculations becomes normalized. My question is this: When I am working with European companies, how should I relate to these normalized-calculations? Is there a similar way to adjust for European companies, or is it even necessary?
