The recession hit, OCR dried up for SA & then for FT. It didn't help that I sucked at interviews. Graduated May 2010 without a job, pissed off.
Stayed at school for 3 months trying to get a job, got final rounds but no offers. Moved to CT to continue my job search. Walked around town to offices unsolicited, asking about internship opportunities.
Landed my current internship in early Feb. at a PE firm, worked for the first month 60hrs/wk unpaid, still largely broke.
TODAY THOUGH, my luck changed.
I had gone through several interviews at good firms the past few weeks. However, my boss called me in today & verbally offered me a FT role at my current PE firm.
I want to thank Wall Street Oasis, M-I, friends, family, and all the 100 people I networked with over the past 6 months. Without all these really excellent resources, this moment would have never been possible.
I never dreamed that I could have gone through so much disappointment, failure, broken promises, all with an unyielding determination. This experience (especially as someone coming from a target which in good times pulls Art History majors into banking) has really opened my mind to the real world and doing what it takes to get what you want. Nothing is guaranteed, you are entitled to absolutely zero, you have to work your ass off. I plan on taking this with me through the rest of my life.

You had a 3.75 GPA from Cornell AEM and you couldn't find a job? Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I thought Cornell received heavy recruiting? Or did you just screw up all the interviews you got from OCR?

Congrats for landing a job with a 3.75 GPA from Cornell AEM - something that you should've landed a year ago, right after graduation, just like all your other peers did. Hopefully you don't end up this "slow" in the rest of your career LOL
