Michigan Ross vs LSA - No Difference, at all.

I'm writing this as an LSA sophomore at Michigan who just wrapped up recruiting. I wanted to make this post for all the non-Ross kids planning on recruiting for SA 2028, or even in future years for those still in high school somehow worrying about this already.

From an outside perspective, and yes, to bascially anyone, Ross undoubetly more prestigous, but slightly. You'd be a fool to say that Ross and LSA carry the exact same weight when you tell your 2nd cousin who loosely knows jack shit about anything finanace related. So let me get the straight before I get people in the comments saying "Ah Ross Reject Cope!" etc.... The difference is minmal, but it still exist.

HOWEVER, the good news is that this does not matter AT ALL for IB recruiting. Infact, it probably sets you apart. I'm speaking from expereicne, as someone who just signed a tier 1 EB (think CVP/PJT/EVR/Q). The truth is, all you need is a damn club. Whether you are in ross or not, having a finance club makes all the difference.

If you are an LSA OR Ross student planning on recruiting, you need to understand how signifcant these clubs are. I have a fuck ton of a friends in Ross who are not getting ANY offers right now. It just happens to be that more ross kids gets offers BECAUSE the nature of Ross tends to be IB/Finance/Etc... whereas fewer LSA kids recruit.

So listen. If you are an LSA kid trying to recruit. Take my advice. I wish a post like this was on here when I started tweaking about not getting into Ross as a internal transfer, etc...

Your NUMBER ONE FOCUS. Should be breaking into MII/GIC/MIBC/VVI/AIC/MSBO/MIG/TAMID. ONE of these clubs makes 10x the difference than being in Ross. Having something besides the other 90% recruting with the same shit on ur resume makes you stand out more than you think.

For context, I am in three out of the above clubs - just one of them is enough. Make the best use of it. Find friends like minded to you in these clubs and grow with them. You realize how easy it is to get an offer as an LSA student once you leave behind the noise.

This isn't to brag - for fucks sake this is an platform with 0 identity attached - but I got first wave offers to four EB's and 3 BB's. Not because I'm a genius. Not because I "out competed" people in a cutthroat way - but because I kept my head up, made the absoulute most of the situation I was in, helped others and treated them the way I'd want them to treat me throughout the process, and didn't let getting rejected by Ross shatter my drive.

To be clear - being in Ross is great. This isn't to shit on Ross kids. Yall did what we couldn't. But to all my LSA grinders out there. Keep your head up. Lock in. And you'll make it farther than you think .
