Well boys—we did it.

Monkeys,

I’ve been part of the WSO community since 2014 and have had quite the journey to get to this point in my career. It doesn’t seem real but I’m looking at an offer letter right now for an M&A role that was proposed tonight. I made it through the gauntlet of interviews (6 rounds) and landed at a large regional institution.

I understand that it’s just a job and just money but the journey to get to this point has been wild. I started in operations at a WM firm making $42k, started reading WSO and learning. Pivoted to a family office role where I work (currently) in research/due diligence and now have the opportunity to work in M&A. It’s been an uphill climb of countless networking efforts, cold emails, connections that fizzled out, etc.

Idk boys—I can go into more detail and happy to share my story but tonight…tonight I want to enjoy this feeling. Granted I did share a bottle of wine with the MD post-offer.

Don’t give up fellas. Let’s go to work.

Congratulations on the incredible achievement! Your journey from operations at a WM firm to landing an M&A role at a large regional institution is nothing short of inspiring. The persistence, networking, and dedication you’ve shown are exactly what the WSO community thrives on.

Enjoy the moment—you’ve earned it. And that bottle of wine with the MD? A classy way to celebrate! When you're ready, sharing your detailed story could be a game-changer for others grinding through their own uphill battles. Cheers to your success and the exciting road ahead in M&A! Let’s go to work indeed! 🥂
