ABCD Commodity Trading Job Offer (1st Job): Salary Expectations & Negotiation Tips

Hi All,

I just graduated from college, and I am near the end of my internship at an ABCD commodity trading house. A few interns and I have been told that we will be receiving our FT offer in the coming 1-2 weeks. Additionally, my mentor at the company told me that the salary would start at approximately $67k per year. I was wondering....

  • If anyone else has a respectable trading house, has a higher offer for a first job?
    • Could you negotiate your bonus or anything else? Do first-year commodity traders get bonuses?
  • If anyone at an ABCD firm negotiated their first job offer?
    • How did it go? What went well, and what do you wish you would have done differently?
  • What are a 3rd year trading salary and bonus exceptions?
  • Any other tips or insights will be appreciated!

Thanks Harden4MVP!

Ya, I have friends in consulting who are making 80k+bonus, so this is def a little less. However, I really enjoy commodities more than my consulting internship, so I will probably stay. Also, I interviewed with glen core and they offered me a little more, but their commodity role is not as stable as the ABCD firms

dont compare one industry to another....   you will drive yourself mad... if you do well in trading... you will make plenty of money....   be patient and good luck
