Accept offer or not?
Hello people,
I live in Europe, and I would like to work in trading, however, I have no real experience in the area. S&T summers have not been going so well for me (see my latest thread) so I started applying for other stuff that I thought could be relevant. I believe that my applications have not gone so well because I don't really have any brand name employers on my CV (large global firms).
I have now been offered a 6 month off-cycle at ExxonMobil in their product trading department. I would be working in the risk division. Sounds good so far, however, the problem is that I would have to push a term of my master's degree, and the salary is about 1 000 EUR which is really shitty. I would probably have to add on from my savings every month to cover expenses... Also I would have to move to another country during the internship.
So to my questions:
1) Is this the type of brand name employer banks look for when recruiting?
2) Would this experience be valuable in terms of landing something better in trading down the line? (BB S&T/prop shop)
3) If yes, do you believe the forward value would compensate my short term (likely) loss?
Looking for some quick answers since I will have to give them my answer asap... Thanks
