[Advice wanted] Are internships in deriv exchanges like CME/Eurex good to break into S&T?
I have an offer for an internship in an exchange (CME, Eurex level), role's for sales support(based on its job scope, it would be more of ops: support team on sales analytics, research on derivatives market and project management). So the internship's for 6 months and I will be taking an absence from school to do this internship full time if I do accept it.
Ultimately I would like to enter S&T, markets role by graduation. Not too caught up with BB or not as long as I can start somewhere in this role. So I'm really hoping to find an internship to learn there for a while(6months) to at least brighten up my CV and make myself more attractive to break into S&T(via summer or placement when I apply again next year)
I'm in my penultimate year this year. But directly breaking into S&T next summer is very unlikely for me at this stage as I have had 0 first round interviews so far for all S&Ts internship which I applied to like regional banks and BBs in Asia(based here in Asia). I'm definitely not a strong candidate(GPA is only 3.2, past internship was in insurance, some experience in equity research club, retail trader, and that's it) so that's not surprising.
And I'm not too sure if the internship would be a good boost to break into S&T or should I try harder for somewhere else like a HF if I want to get into a trader role ultimately. Would like some advice on if this internship would be a good one for S&T. If anyone has done such internships before or has made the jump in an exchange to S&T, would love to hear from you as well!
Thank you!
