What do you guys think? with the impending regulation, would you place structured or OTC derivatives in your top 3 desk selections still?

lol you do understand that EVEN IN THE UNLIKELY scenario that they make banks spin off their derivatives desk to a subsidiary, the organization will likely hire people to that subsidiary. But, do not run scared of the OTC desks because of impending legislation.
Secondly, if you're at a european BB, your fine. The interesting discussion desks are having is that the regulatory reform would hinder JPM, GS, MS, C, BAC... but would be advantageous to DB and CS in particular (Credit Suisse in the US is actually Credit Suisse Securities USA LLC, a subsidiary of the Switzerland-based institution ...not to mention its deposits are not insured by the FDIC and US taxpayers have no relationship to the firm)
In any event, do not worry too much. If you have an interest in derivatives, try to get a placement on one of those desks.
