Barclays Markets Quantitative Analyst Internship Thoughts?
Has anyone been apart of this program/knows anyone who has done the internship? Curious how it differs from regular S&T and which would be better to apply for.

It's probably going to be desk quant or quant support, so you'll be developing signals. Depending on the desk, it's a pretty good gig, and I know a good number of people that went from BB desk quant->prop shop/hedge fund quant.
Ultimately, the decision comes down to what you want to do long term. If you want to be a trader, do S&T. If you want to be a quant, do the quant stuff.
Based on the most helpful WSO content, the Barclays Markets Quantitative Analyst Internship would likely focus more on quantitative and technical skills compared to a regular Sales & Trading (S&T) internship. Quantitative Analyst roles typically require a strong background in mathematics, programming, and data analysis, as they involve building models, analyzing market data, and supporting trading strategies with quantitative insights.
In contrast, a regular S&T internship might lean more towards understanding markets, client interaction, and trading execution, with less emphasis on deep quantitative modeling. The choice between the two depends on your skill set and career goals:
Quantitative Analyst Internship: Ideal if you have a strong quantitative background (e.g., STEM major) and are interested in roles that involve coding, statistical modeling, and algorithmic trading.
Regular S&T Internship: Better suited if you are more interested in market dynamics, client relationships, and trading execution, with less focus on technical programming.
If you have a strong quantitative skill set and enjoy working with data and models, the Quantitative Analyst Internship might be a better fit. However, if you prefer a broader exposure to markets and client-facing roles, the regular S&T internship could be more aligned with your interests.
