Berkshire Hathaway - What sort of investment firm is closest?
What sort of investment firm would be closest to Berkshire Hathaway?
Specifically, with their purchasing of large portions of companies as well as (I believe) long term debt financing of other companies/governments.
Or what sort of company would that be, if not Berkshire Hathaway?
Thank you.
This is a good question bc I think what they do is unusual, and Buffett has talked about that: Most buyers are either levering up (PE/LBO) which is risky, or will try to enact changes and impose themselves on management. Not a lot of players like Buffett. I would say mutual funds, but they are pretty limited in how large their percentage of equity is, in a given company.
Or, passive growth equity providers (tech companies, healthcare companies, etc.).
Anybody agree with me?
For anyone interested in Berkshire and similar models, you should absolutely research Danaher and the Rales brothers. They have consistently outperformed Berkshire and their conglomerate model and consistent growth have been very impressive.
