Bips vs Beeps
How do you guys refer to basis points? I've had an internship where "bips" was the standard and am taking a class right now where the professor exclusively uses "beeps." This professor has been teaching ~30 years but has never worked in industry whereas my coworkers had been for 10+ years.
personally say BIPs
bips
bips...always bips
only academics use beeps
Think he's using it as an indicator that he's an academic? Kinda analogous to saying "color/bandwidth" or other semi-vernacular on the street?
Never ever heard anyone saying beeps in the industry before.
