Breaking into IB/S&T from Back Office

I work within ops at a BB bank in a satellite office. My goal is to work either in investment banking or sales and trading in NYC. I’m open to both the idea of moving internally or switching firms.

I’m studying for the SIE and taking Wall Street Prep’s financial modeling course. I’m reading exec sum and the Financial Times daily. And I’m networking hard with my school’s alums at the MD level.

I graduated in May from a top-ranked liberal arts college with a 3.7 GPA. I think I’m a smart guy and I know I’ll work hard.

Is there anything else I can do to give myself the best chance of making this jump?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Network like crazy with people within your bank and the office you work at. Your best chance would be at the bank you work at if you get a referral from someone who you work with.
