Can anyone describe this job to me?
I am not in finance, so I was wondering if anyone can tell me what job my dad had. He worked for Dean Witter on Wall Street and when he retired he was working for Drexel, Burnham, Lambert on Rodeo Drive. He used to get to work around 5:00 am and was home everyday by 2:30 pm. We weren't millionaires or even close, but he made good money (low 6 figures in the 80's). There were other perks to the job too. He used to tell me he was an "industrial broker." Does that job still exist? What did they do? Is it still possible to make that kind of money with those hours? It seemed like a dream job. He used to try to describe it to me, but I was too young to understand and now he's gone and I'm curious.
