Career in Fixed Income Structuring
Hi there, so I'm a newbie who's just got an internship offer from a top 3 BB Fixed Income Structuring (under S&T) based in Hong Kong. I applied for Trading but ended up getting a Structuring offer. With zero experience in Structuring, I'm pretty oblivious. There seem to be limited info about this job on the internet as well. So I have some questions:
1) What's a typical day of a junior in fixed income structuring? Hours and bonus?
2) What skills should I build up to get ready? Mistakes to avoid when working in Structuring (like in IBD it's crucial to avoid presentation issues like spelling mistakes, formatting, number inconsistency, etc.)?
3) Probably a bit "premature" to ask, but might be good to know - what are the potential exit opps? I heard HFs only recruit from BB Trading departments and won't look in Structuring, not sure if it's true. Also, is it possible to exit to primary market positions like Lev Fin or Private Credit?
Thanks a lot!!
