A lot of my first year ibanking friends are recruiting for PE jobs and other exit opps. Is there an equivalent route typical for bond traders? If so, how does one seek them out? I know I don't want to stay as an analyst here and want to look for other opportunities either now or later.
Don't want to stay at your BB? I think your best exit opps would be either hedge funds or prop shops.

Just out of curiosity, what are actually the exit opps for sales traders? I mean, M&A and LevFin guys typically hope to get into private equity. and ER guys often switch to the buy-side, e.g. mutual funds or long short equity HF. but what can you do as a former sales trader????

Typical exit opps for cash equity sales trading: driving a cab, bouncer at a nightclub (assuming you're a big Italian dude), food trucks, male gigolo.
Typical exit opps for fixed income/currency derivatives/exotics, etc.: top b-schools, macro hedge funds, other BB trading desks.

Only top b-school there is = HBS.
"Sales trader" is a sales position and thus they can go to another sales position (e.g. structuring, derivs, different asset) or in rare cases to a trader position.

what about research? as a sales trader, you monitor markets and keep clients updated, right? so if you already have some knowledge on markets, cant you switch to investment research? i mean, ofc you will have to learn all the research tools and so on. but having some sales trading experience might be beneficial, right?

What is the average amount of time a junior "trader" can expect to work at a bank/hedge fund/prop shop before being given a book to manage?
I've heard of places doing six month training programs and then giving money to those first years. Likewise I've heard of building reputation at a firm which could take (2-3?) years.
Obviously the answer is different if you are "good" vs if you are "bad." Additionally, I would expect the answer to be different for buy side vs sell side. I am curious about the answer for both.
