Central Bank Sales

Hi guys,

I'm just about to start a summer internship in London where I'll be interning on a 'Central Bank Sales' desk (among others). So far I understand the desk deals with CBs, and SWFs in the Rates space.

Would someone here be able to provide any more information on the types of products CBs and SWFs typically trade? And perhaps an insight into the day-to-day workflow of someone on this desk? (I presume it's generally like other Rates Sales desks, but there must be some key differences?).

Any information would be greatly appreciated!!!

Many thanks in advance!

It depends which central banks/what area you will be covering and which desk you will be on. It can be repos, sec lending, T-bills and Bonds, FX swaps

What differentiate a central bank from other counterparties is that some of them conduct their fixed income operation through auctions, so read a bit abt different types of auctions.
