Commodities Trading

So I recently attended a generic info session advertising commodities trading at a bb. Having had 0 previous knowledge of the field, I left pretty interested. That being said, I'm wondering whether commodities desks are still profitable at large banks, if they're ""dying,"" and what niches or products may be most attractive. And secondly, if anyone at a desk could give comp ranges in comparison to other s&t desks, that would be helpful. Lastly, any resources anyone may have would be sweet.
