Yeah that is a decent documentary which gives a great insight into the physical trading business.

This is a slight tangent but I find that there tends to be more info about physical business in books. I have a few recommendations: - Oil by Tom Bower - book is predominately about oil majors dealing around the world in the 90s and early 00s but there are a few chapters dedicated to the traders at the likes of BP, Shell and Marc Rich + Co - The Secret Club That Runs the World by Kate Kelly - the title is pretty dramatic but it is a decent read and it covers the likes of the major trading houses, hedge funds and regulators - King of Oil by Daniel Ammann - biographical account of Marc Rich's trading empire. Marc Rich was the guy who developed the first spot market in oil. Its a pretty interesting read but I think now the industry is far less buccaneering as it once was in the 80s to 90s.

Final recommendation is not a book but a report written by Trafigura called "Commodities Demystified" (if you google it, you will find it). It's a great source of up-to-date information about the physical trading industry .

I am sure they are but I can't think of any on the top of my head.

That said there was a coveted commodities trading firm called Commodities Corporation. The firm traded commodities as well as other macro products. From what I gathered, the firm did some physical trades but predominately made money from futures and options trading. The main reason why I am recommend reading about Commodities Corporation is because the firm was a launching pad for a lot of big traders (Paul Tudor Jones, Louis Bacon, etc). The firm was bought by Goldman in 90s but there has been some books/stories written about notable traders at the firm.

I recommend the following for stuff about Commodities Corp: - http://www.businessinsider.com/interview-with-a-trading-legend-part-vi-… - informative interview extract - My Career at Commodities Corporation by Irwin Rosenblum - tough to find atm because it is out of print

For a more up-to-date insight into the markets, I would recommend watching interviews with head traders and CEOs of majors & ABCD trading departments, major trading houses and hedge funds. That said, the content in these interviews will not impart you with a lot of information about the trading strategy but will give you greater insight as to how these organisations react to the current market.
