DCM to S&T
Recently completed an internship in DCM at a BB. My goal is Sales and Trading (more so Trading), focussing on macro related products (FX/IR/Commodities). How helpful is this prior internship in DCM for grad roles or internships in S&T?

DCM experience would be helpful for credit related roles in S&T more so than any macro products. Would be challenging to get into S&T full time and would be better to focus on summer internships.
DCM isn’t a perfect match for trading, but it’s still front office and shows you’ve got market exposure. If you can speak to macro themes, rate curves, issuance windows, etc., you can spin it well—especially for IR desks. Just make the narrative tight: show why you're pivoting, what you learned, and how it applies to trading. Plenty have made the jump.
