Deutsche Bank S&T Interview Advice

Hi all,

I have an assessment centre for the FIC (S&T) internship at Deutsche Bank on Friday in the London office. Has anyone done this assessment centre before? Any advice ahead of time? I would be very grateful for any tips. Thanks!

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some tips for your Deutsche Bank S&T assessment center:

  1. Technical Knowledge:

    • Brush up on fixed income concepts, as you're targeting the FIC desk. Familiarize yourself with Hull's Options, Futures, and Derivatives for general understanding.
    • For FICC-specific knowledge, Fabozzi's work is a good resource. Focus on relevant chapters that align with fixed income and credit products.
    • Be prepared for mental math and quick calculations, as these are often tested in S&T interviews.
  2. Behavioral and Fit Questions:

    • Be articulate and structured in your responses. Avoid rehearsed answers but have a collection of experiences ready to demonstrate competencies like teamwork, problem-solving, and adaptability.
    • Show genuine interest in the role and the desk. Be ready to explain why you're interested in S&T and Deutsche Bank specifically.
  3. Networking and Desk Interaction:

    • If there’s a networking component, engage with everyone on the desk. Show curiosity and ask intelligent questions about their roles and the desk's operations.
  4. Assessment Center Format:

    • Expect multiple rounds, including a mix of technical, behavioral, and possibly group exercises. Be prepared for a case study or trading simulation.
    • Double-check your work during exercises and maintain a positive attitude throughout.
  5. General Tips:

    • Stay calm and composed. If you don’t know an answer, admit it and explain how you would approach finding the solution.
    • Be humble, avoid showing off, and focus on demonstrating a willingness to learn.
