Do freight or shipping logistics/operations courses help?

I'm trading commodities at a bank (3 years) and trying to move to a trading house. I've done some search and found that there are quite a few part-time or online classes for freight logistics and shipping operation management, often for junior maritime analysts or those in a similar capacity. These courses cover it from marine insurance, law, L/C, demurrage to the standard code communication in shipping.

If I take some of these classes and get a certificate, will it either send a good signal to my future interviewer, or equip me with some background knowledge that will later help me on the job as an ops/scheduler/etc?
