Does a referral guarantee an interview?
i wanted to ask if an employee referral guarantees an interview nowadays or if all of my efforts are in vain. I applied to ubs for their graduate role (S&T London) and got an md to refer me. I also got an executive director to refer me for the jpm off cycle position. I havent heard anything back since submitting the hirevues.
Nope had an ED referral for MS and it def didn’t help.
I also had someone high up in BofA refer me and I still haven’t heard back
It does help for MS and slightly for BofA, not for other banks though
I could be wrong I’m just going off my experience so far from recruiting both NYC and London
Usually means that HR will give your CV a look vs. guaranteeing an interview.
I'm an ED at a London IB and can confirm this. You'll (A) get a proper look on your CV versus going through filters; and (B) still need to pass any tests which other candidates need to pass
Makes 0 difference at 90% of banks, and at UBS and JPM especially it doesn't help
Referral is meaningful when you are an experienced hire. Intern,,neh, it's quite structured for large corps.
