Employee refferal

What are your views on PIMCO and state street markets division?
I have a close friend pushing through my application at a top Asset Management firm in global markets and said he will so anything to help me i.e telling tell hr what a good employee I am and so on...
I was wondering, is that enough? I know anything is not guaranteed in finance but would that be ok for getting an interview?
I go to a non target.

I think that should be sufficient for an interview, but you'd still have to land a job. I've gotten interviews through refferal only to come out empty handed by HR.

yeah the referral is just to get your foot into the door. I suppose though nothing is certain in finance and even if he refers me its not cert but odds are in my favour

I had a first round through employee referral, made it to the super day and then got put on the "wait list" or whatever you want to call it for alternate candidates. So I agree with above, should be sufficient for 1st round but after that its on you.
