Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some highly recommended books that have been instrumental in developing a strong understanding of energy trading fundamentals, particularly in power:
"Electricity Markets: Pricing, Structures and Economics"
"Energy Trading and Investing"
"Understanding Today's Electricity Business"
"Understanding Today's Natural Gas Business"
"Trading Natural Gas: Cash Futures Options & Swaps" by Fletcher J. Sturm
Daniel Yergin's Books
These books are frequently cited by professionals in the energy trading space and are considered essential reading for anyone looking to deepen their understanding of the fundamentals.
I just bought the book: World for Sale. I’ll lyk if it’s any good
Read this one and couldn’t recommend it more.
Working with guys who used to work at a few of those firms added a cool perspective to the read.
Petroleum refining in nontechnical language
Nice, I’ll give it a look.
I'm halfway through reading "40 Classic Crude Oil Trades" by Owain Johnson. It's less about Energy fundamentals but instead gives short stories of really interesting oil trades (both paper and physical). Great to understand how traders plan and execute their trades. Hope it helps
