Equity platform design

Hi everyone, I am designing the UI of web based (not application based) equity platform for my company. I was looking out for insights regarding the information, a trader would like to monitor at the first glance (pre-market research). It's a standard equity trading platform, we are building it from the scratch.

What should be the home screen?

Scenario1: A trader logs into the platform. He looks for the hottest stocks and sectors to trade (gainers/losers,etc.), News and shortlist the stocks he want to trade.

Scenario2: A trader logs into the platform. The first screen is a stock screener, he shortlist the stock for trading.

Scenario3: A trader wants to know, the status of his portfolio.

I would like to know thoughts on the above scenarios. More scenarios are welcome.

I was thinking of designing a screen: where the trader has all critical information on the first go. This even helps to initiate the critical tasks like shortlisting stocks, setting alerts, doing company research, etc. I have less clarity regarding what information I must consider critical as I am not into trading.

Suggestions, please :)
