Equity Product Management?

Can anyone give me any color on this functionality/role? It's being pitched to me as - senior guy (ex-equity sales person) has mandate to raise top line equity franchise revenues by x% annually. Does this by managing & driving platform - ie adding additional ER coverage to specific sectors, making sure sales people are highlighting appropriate points on calls etc. Furthermore, thought is that position is for 6 - 12 months and then analyst is able to jump ship into either a trading, research, sales or sales trading role, assuming they've performed well. Seems like an ideal seat since as a first year S&T person, you're not doing much real work until you're 6 - 9 months in anyway...? No clue though - any thoughts would be much appreciated.
