First jobs in trading? Please advise.

What are the best places to start a career in trading?

I know Goldman and some other BBs get a lot of press, but what about buyside firms? What about energy companies? I suppose most people get to high-quality trading hedge funds after a BB stint, but what other paths are well-regarded (if any)?

What's the consensus on energy trading jobs at Chevron or BP? I noticed John Arnold, of Centaurus, is an ex-Enron energy trader.

Thanks for any insight.
