FT offer hesitation
Hi, I was offered a trading FT position after my SA at a tier 1 BB in London.
I just want to gather some opinions here.
Do you think this industry is still worth it ? I mean, really think about it objectively and tell me what you think.
I've made huge efforts and countless hours of preparation to break in, but now that i'm there, i'm starting to wonder if this is the right way to go...
It's a genuine post, not a troll, i'm really curious to know about your thoughts.
Thanks !
I did a ST BB internship too, and during my time there, I saw that this place is no longer what it used to be. With all the regulation that is going in US and the current market conditions, trading is such a dying profession, at least in my opinion. But being offered a job after college is great, take it and switch after few years.
So lucky - I hate you :D (joke)
Take it, there's still a lot of value to sell side traders. The regulations are only temporary obstacles, the financial industry will find a way to make money and you just need to be flexible as the changes occur.
It's good that you're thinking about this carefully. But in all honesty, unless you have a compelling alternative choice, just go for it. Learn as much as you can, develop your skills, make some good money, and see where it takes you. You can switch and do something else afterwards, stay and get promoted, or move to buy side.
