GM IT Mobility to Fixed Income

Currently in my 2nd yr as a business analyst for a cash equities desk at a large sell side. My goal is to do a mobility transfer into fixed income sometime Q1/2 2025. I don’t have any professional related experience with fixed income (but I have a relatively strong understanding of cash equities products/ market dynamics, macro, bond math, etc). Also I’m not even transitioning from a proper S&T role since I work on the technology side. I’m also going to be up for promotion at the end of the year & if I were to transfer into FIC I would not expect to transfer with any type of seniority/would expect to transfer as a analyst but I guess ‘demoting’ when transitioning into a new role is discouraged? Wondering if anyone could give me some insight or advice.
