How helpful is networking with non-alumni?
I’m at a semi-target and have a decent amount of alumni in S&T, but not an abundance by any means. While I primarily focus on talking to alumni, this isn’t always feasible depending on the bank. How much sway would non-alumni have on the recruiting process if they aren’t on the recruiting committee for my school (assuming there is one)? I assume they can probably send an email to HR and try to help me out, but I’m not sure if I’m wasting my time with them. Can someone help fill me in on how this would work within the bank?
Also, I’m assuming for sake of argument that they are actually willing to talk with me.
You should network with anyone. I was able to get my IB offer, networking with someone who did not go to my school. But alumni are more likely to respond in my experience.
How's your experience after networking with non alum?
